Wuyuan Bus Terminus

Conceptual Design for the WuYuan government on an 80-hectare site to accommodate a bus terminal hall, hotel, driving school, shopping arcade and ancillary offices.

The design inverts the solid and void of the WuYuan skyline, while acknowledging the presence and value of tradition in a subtle and careful way. The inversion of solid and void allow a rather large space underneath the building for a major public transportation interchange, while the solid top block revisits the Hui-style wall architecture in forms and materials. The lower part of the building also makes an abstract reference to WuYuan’s horizontal landscape banding created by tea plantation.
